Answer:  These banks and mortgage companies are not in business to own or sell homes.  They don't want to own real estate, they want to own just the mortgages.  When a mortgage they own isn't paid they get the house.  The house represents a loss to them and the faster they sell it the better.  The banks lose a LOT of money when a property is foreclosed but they continue to lose money while the house is on their books.  While they don't sell off the foreclosed homes for pennies on the dollar, they sell them fast and cheap and move onto the next one. 

What about Kalamazoo HUD Homes?  HUD is a department of the federal governmentthe Department of Housing and Urban Development.  
When FHA mortages  are foreclosed and the homes are resold, they are called HUD Homes.
 
 Is a HUD home a Foreclosed Home?
Yes, but different.  Instead of a bank owning it, it's a division of the government that owns it.  Bank owned homes come in all price ranges.  HUD homes in general are inexpensive homes.   A common price range is under $75,000.  They are seldom priced over $125,000.
HUD homes are EASY to finance.  They are ideal for owner occupants, especially first time homebuyers, although many investors buy them too.
